Care & Longevity

Archival materials are chosen to preserve the photograph for generations. Under optimal framing, display and storage conditions, current laboratory guidance for archival Giclée prints suggests a potential lifespan of approximately 100 to 200 years.

Framing: Use UV-protective glass or acrylic with acid-free backing and mats. Avoid direct contact between the surface of the print and the glazing.

Display: Keep the print away from direct or harsh sunlight, moisture and areas of high humidity.

Handling: Hold the print by its edges wherever possible, using clean, dry hands.

Storage: Keep unmounted prints flat in an archival-quality box or portfolio, ideally in a dry environment at a moderate room temperature.

The Story

Tunis Village, Fayoum, Egypt · 2026

I went to Tunis Village in Fayoum planning to stay for a week. One week became two, then somehow became more. It is only around two hours from Cairo, but the calm felt much farther away from the city than that. I got addicted to the slower days, the food, the quiet, and eventually to what Tunis Village is known for most: pottery. You walk through the village and clay is everywhere.

Much of that story is connected to Evelyne Porret, the Swiss artist who came to Tunis and helped build a community around pottery. She is gone now, but a street still carries her name. I kept thinking about that while I was there. What does it mean to leave something behind that continues to shape a place after you are no longer in it? The craft continued, people made it their own, and today pottery is part of the identity of the village. That is the kind of legacy I understand. Art that stays for another day.
