The Story

Tunis Village, Fayoum, Egypt · 2026

I went to Tunis Village in Fayoum and stayed there for weeks. While I was there, I got addicted to the slower days, the food, the quiet, and eventually to what Tunis Village is known for most: pottery. I live in the capital city, where I am always surrounded by highways and billboards, running for money, passive aggressiveness, survival instincts. In other words, capitalism.

In Cairo, I run most of the time. Not on tracks, but on wheels. There is always the next big thing, and because my mind is so accustomed to this fast-paced life, I rarely notice that something is wrong. Until I go to the sea and realise I can spend hours in front of the waves, but my nervous system tells me something is wrong. I need to leave the sea and run.

I have the same thought when I hold something, or when I see someone holding clay.

Is it okay to slow down and feel?

Are you still human?
